The Fitbit has always been a great fitness tracker and the Fitbit Charge line just gives you that little bit extra you need as a runner without opting for a full fledge smart watch.
The Fitbit Charge 4 comes with all the features of the Charge 3, but this time around it has GPS so you can use it without having to bring your phone. It’s small and discreet enough to wear every day and with the battery life of 7 days you hardly ever have to take it off.
The Charge 4 is waterproof, so you can take it in the shower with you and it tracks your sleep activity, so you can keep it on in bed. With other smart watches most times you leave them charge overnight so the sleep tracking function isn’t used half the time, but with the long battery life this isn’t an issue for the Charge 4.
By wearing the Fitbit Charge 4 all day you will also get a better reading of your resting heart rate. After your exercise you can check your Workout intensity map and see your heart rate zones throughout your route.
Battery life is affected by the use of GPS though. According to Fitbit the battery will last you 5 hours while using the GPS.
The Fitbit Charge 4 is the best fitness tracker you can buy at the moment. If you can do without the GPS though and don’t care about the extra functions that brings the Fitbit Charge 3 is still a great option too. The price point of the Charge 4 however is not that much higher than the 3, so in my opinion you’d be better off spending just a little bit extra to get the Charge 4.
The look of the Charge 4 is pretty much the same as the Charge 3 and the straps off the 3 also work with the Charge 4, so if you have the earlier version and you bought extra straps you can still use those.
The Fitbit Charge 4 is not a smart watch, but if you only want to track your fitness, Fitbit delivers everything you need. It has some extra functions that make it more like a smart watch then most other fitness trackers though. You can receive text messages, check the weather and even control your Spotify on your phone through the Charge 4.
At $149 the Fitbit Charge 4 is more affordable than most smart watches and still delivers a lot of the same functions. If you’re interested in getting one you can find it here through Amazon.
